Akron: Akron earned its second consecutive NIT bid, seventh all-time, after a 26-8 overall record and back-to-back Mid-American Conference regular-season championships. The Zips are making their fifth appearance under Dambrot with a 2-4 record and 2-6 all-time. Akron has made 12 Division I postseason appearances, including the nine of the last 10 seasons. Akron has won at least 21 games in 12-straight seasons under 13th-year head coach Keith Dambrot, something only a handful of Division I programs have accomplished.
