NIU'S SCHARPING SELECTED BY HOUSTON IN 2ND ROUND OF 2019 NFL DRAFT Northern Illinois offensive tackle Max Scharping was a second-round draft choice, 55th overall, by the Houston Texans in the NFL Draft on Friday night. Scharping is a three-time All-MAC First Team selection who started 53 consecutive games, played every snap (998 plays) and helped lead NIU's offensive line and the Huskies to a 2018 Marathon MAC Football Championship. Scharping completed his master's degree in exercise physiology and fitness leadership last December.
