For the Miami RedHawks, it certainly seemed like a lack of postseason opportunities were a foregone conclusion after their 2016 started 0-6. Leave it to Miami and Chuck Martin to make it interesting, though, as the RedHawks ran off six straight wins, was an outside contender for the division title, and have now accepted a bowl bid to the St. Petersburg Bowl on December 26 in, appropriately enough, St. Petersburg, Florida. With the success, Miami becomes the first team to from 0-6 to a bowl.
It’s Miami's 11th bowl contest in school history. Overall, the RedHawks are 7-3 in bowl games, and last played in the post season in the 2010 GoDaddy Bowl in Mobile, Alabama.
