BUFFALO, NY – Sophomore defender Maya Galko curled a ball off the back post for a goal in the 73rd minute to lead the University at Buffalo women's soccer team (3-0-1) to a 1-0 win over crosstown rival Canisius on Wednesday night at UB Stadium.

Both teams struggled to control and maintain possession for much of the first half. The Bulls had their first scoring chances of the game in the 30th minute as Jasmine Guerber broke free and put a ball on net that just sailed wide and then a minute later, Eva Blatz played a great through ball to Arianna Zumpano who drilled a shot on target, but Jordan Spencer made a point blank save and the game remained scoreless at the half.
