Darren Mattocks traded to Timbers for allocation money, roster spot

Mattocks, the No. 2 overall pick by the Vancouver Whitecaps in 2012, has been traded to Portland for allocation money and an international roster spot.

After it was widely rumored that Darren Mattocks was going to be involved in a trade with the Portland Timbers, the deal finally went through Monday, as the Whitecaps received general allocation money, targeted allocation money and a 2017 international roster spot for their forward.

Mattocks, who played in 22 games (nine starts) for Vancouver last season and scored three goals, will join former Zips Darlington Nagbe, Michael Nanchoff, Ben Zemanski and will be reunited with his former coach, Caleb Porter, in Portland.
