The Central Michigan Chippewas (1-1) opened up the new-look Kelly/Shorts Stadium to fans for the first time since clinching the MAC West Division title in November 2019, and gave the over 16,000 fans assembled quite the show, taking the 45-0 victory over the Robert Morris Colonials (0-1) for the school’s first shutout since Nov. 23, 2013 (44-0 in a conference win vs. UMass.)
Saturday’s action marked the return of one Jim McElwain to the sidelines, coming off surgery from appendicitis which kept him away from traveling with the team to Missouri last week, his first missed game over his decades-long career.
