INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Central Michigan’s Christen Chiesa and Kent State’s Danniel Thomas have been selected as the MAC nominees for the 2017 NCAA Woman of the Year award, the NCAA announced Tuesday.
Chiesa and Thomas are amongst 145 women selected from a program-record of 543 school nominees.
For the first time, nominees competing in a sport not sponsored by their school’s core conference were placed in a separate pool to be considered by a selection committee. Up to two independent nominees could be selected to move forward in the process with the conference nominees.
