Bowling Green State University junior Erin Fahey shot a 71 at Walnut Grove Country Club in Dayton, Ohio to qualify for the US Women's Amateur Championship Aug. 7-13 at San Diego Country Club in Chula Vista, Calif. Fahey's 71 at the qualifier was good for eighth place in the 88-player field. The top nine finishers qualified for the US Women's Amateur Championship.
Wad Phaewchimplee and Mia Kness paced the field with rounds of 68. It took a score of 72 to qualify for the championship. Fahey, a native of Austin, Texas, birdied three of the first six holes at the qualifier and made the turn at -3.
