Akron Names Melissa Jackson Head Women's Basketball Coach

AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron Director of Athletics Larry Williams announced on Wednesday that Melissa Jacksonhas been selected as the head coach of the Akron women's basketball program, pending formal approval from the University's Board of Trustees.

Following her 10-year stint on the Zips staff, including the past six years spent as the associate head coach, Jackson becomes the 10th head coach in Akron women's basketball history.

"I am very confident that Melissa can lead our women's basketball program to new heights of success. She has an authentic and rare energy, and is incredibly organized and tactical," said Williams.
