Tuesday night’s game between the Ohio Bobcats (1-1) and the Akron Zips (0-2) was not for the feint of heart. The teams combined for three missed field goals and Akron turned the ball over three times, but Ohio managed to escape with the win thanks to 139 yards and two touchdowns from De’Montre Tuggle. Akron’s Teon Dollard showed out as well with 165 yards on the ground, but Keye Thompson was the difference in the game for the ‘Cats as he registered six tackles, a sack, and an interception.
Ohio wasted no time to score on the opening drive as Kurtis Rourke found Shane Hooks for a 7-yard third down conversion and a 40-yard bomb, which set up a Tuggle 9-yard scamper for a touchdown.
