The 6th running back in the 2017 NFL Draft was none other than all-time Toledo’s leading rusher Kareem Hunt from the Toledo Rockets. Hunt was the first Rocket selected this year, as a 3rd-round selection, the 86th pick overall.
Hunt becomes the first Toledo alum selected in the NFL Draft since former Rockets running back Jalen Parmele (sixth round, 2008 by the Miami Dolphins) and the 29th draft selection in school history. Hunt boosted his draft stock after a strong rebound performance in 2016, finishing with his second 1,400-plus yard season of his collegiate career. Scouts noticed his presence even more after a strong Senior Bowl performance, where he earned North Outstanding Player honors.
