The 2017 Michigan Wolverines Spring Game didn't lack drama. The Blue team rallied from down 11 points with just over four minutes to play to take a lead late. But, the Maize team won 31-29 on a game-winning field goal from Kyle Seychel as time expired.
Quarterback play was the major takeaway from the game, thanks to Brandon Peters strong effort and Wilton Speight's struggles. With that in mind, here are five things we learned from the Michigan Football Spring Game.
Brandon Peters Was The Top QB
With Wilton Speight struggling (more on that below), the top QB for Michigan was clearly Brandon Peters. While stats were only provided for the first half (I know, brutal), Peters was sharp throughout. He wasn't perfect, but he led the Maize team on the game winning drive after his defense gave it away. Peters ran for a TD and threw for another in a sharp effort, although he had a pick-six.
He might not pass Speight on the depth chart, but he looks like the backup QB for this year. He's already surpassed John O'Korn, who was 0 for 1 in the first half. Peters is just a redshirt freshman and his future looks bright.
Wilton Speight Struggled
Speight's offensive line play wasn't great, but he did not play well. He had a brutal first half, going 9 for 23 for 78 yards and an interception. He added a pick-six (see below) in the second half and looked more like end-of-season Speight than start of 2016 Speight. That's not a good thing. There might not be a true QB competition between Peters and Speight, but we're getting closer to that point with the Spring Game effort.

Line Play
For starters, Mason Cole was at left tackle with Cesar Ruiz in at center. That's a clear sign the true freshman Ruiz could start at center this year. Jon Runyan Jr. left the game with a leg injury, a concerning issue for an already thin OL. As for the defensive side of the ball, this is likely the starting defensive line for the season opener: Chase Winovich and Rashan Gary at DE and Maurice Hurst and Bryan Mone at DT. The defensive line outplayed the offensive line.
The Other Glasgow
Michigan fans already know Ryan and Graham Glasgow. Graham was a key offensive lineman now with the Detroit Lions, while Ryan played on the defensive line and is hoping to be an NFL Draft pick. But there's also Jordan Glasgow, a walk-on (like his brothers) who is competing for playing time in the "Viper" role (what Jabrill Peppers played last year). Glasgow happened to have the play of the day, a 102-yard pick-six.

Glasgow might not play a ton, but the fans should know his name now.
Khaleke Hudson Up Next
Hudson was an under-the-radar signing in the class of 2016, as he was just a three-star recruit. But he looked sharp in the Spring Game and is in line to fill the shoes of Jabrill Peppers as the Viper. He had a sack and a few other notable plays throughout the game. He's a great athlete and could thrive early in Don Brown's defense. Speaking of linebackers, Devin Bush looked great and could play a huge role this year.
