The Michigan Wolverines are hard at work at putting together a strong 2017 recruiting class. The Wolverines, head coach Jim Harbaugh and his staff have already landed a few highly-touted recruits, but they are going after several more talented recruits.
While the Wolverines might not end up with the No. 1 player in the nation again this year, they're targeting several high-profile recruits this year with the hope of landing them. A big tip of the hat to 247Sports, as their rankings were used to detail the recruits' overall and position rankings. With that in mind, here are the top seven recruits on Michigan's 2017 recruiting hot board.
7. DE Corey Malone-Hatcher
Malone-Hatcher is just the No. 188 overall recruit, but the four-star prospect has offers from almost every major program. He's listed as a DE, but can also play OLB. Michigan might be the favorite at the moment, but Alabama, Notre Dame and Ohio State are after the No. 4 recruit from Michigan.
6. WR Nico Collins
The four-star WR is 6-foot-4 and has great size. He's the No. 65 overall recruit and the top player from the state of Alabama. The SEC schools are after Collins, with Alabama the front-runner. But Michigan is a contender as well, and Collins' father is originally from the state.
5. CB Stanford Samuels III
The Wolverines face a tough battle to land Samuels, as Florida State is his father's alma mater. The five-star prospect is the No. 29 overall recruit in the class of 2017 and the No. 4 CB. Although Florida State is the favorite, Michigan is in the mix. However, three of his school teammates are at Michigan. His head coach, Devin Bush Sr., is also at Michigan now.
4. C Cesar Ruiz
Ruiz is the nation's top center. A four-star recruit from Florida, Ruiz is the No. 157 overall prospect. The Wolverines need to add a center this year, which is why Ruiz ranks so highly. Jim Harbaugh has yet to sign a true one while at Michigan, but that could change with Ruiz. The Wolverines are the current favorites to land Ruiz.
3. OLB Drew Singleton
The Wolverines need to add a few OLBs in this cycle and Singleton is at the top of their list. The four-star recruit is the No. 72 overall player and the No. 2 player from New Jersey. Clemson is in the mix as well, but a few things work in Michigan's favor. His old high school coach is the linebackers coach at Michigan and he's good friends with Rashan Gary.
2. OT Isaiah Wilson
The Wolverines need offensive line help, so it's not much of a surprise they're pursuing the five-star OT from New York. Wilson is the No. 18 overall recruit and the No. 5 OT. Michigan is currently the front-runner, but Rutgers, Alabama and Penn State aren't far behind. At 6-foot-6, 330-pounds, Wilson is already built like an NFL tackle.
1. WR Donovan Peoples-Jones
WR isn't a massive need for Michigan, but keeping the best talent in-state is. Peoples-Jones is the best player in the state of Michigan, the No. 1 WR and the No. 5 overall recruit. He could have an impact right away, but it's going to be a battle for Peoples-Jones. Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Florida and USC are all very much in the mix.
