The Michigan Wolverines just put the finishing touches on one of best recruiting classes in 2016. Even before that class was taken care of the, the Wolverines had begun working on the 2017 recruiting class. That's common for college football programs, as the recruiting process is never-ending and teams are often trying to get an early jump on the next class.
With several running backs set to leave after this season, it's not a surprise that Michigan is targeting several this cycle. The Wolverines won't land every player on this list. In fact, they'll likely only sign one or two. A big tip of the hat to 247Sports, as their rankings were used to detail the recruits' overall and position rankings. The players are listed in descending order of their overall rank. With that in mind, here are the 6 RBs Jim Harbaugh is recruiting in 2017.
6. Kurt Taylor
We start with the lone running back already committed to Michigan. While Taylor is still taking a few vists, the Wolverines picked up his committment back in October. He's a three-star recruit and the No. 39 overall running back in the class. If Michigan isn't able to land another RB from the list below, they should at least have Taylor.
5. CJ Cotman
Cotman checks in as a four-star recruit and the No. 304 overall player. And all-purpose back, Cotman has plenty of speed. While Florida State is the favorite to keep the in-state recruit, Michigan is very much in the mix.
4. A.J. Dillon
Dillion checks in a 6-foot-1, 230-pounds, which is why he plays linebacker as well. He's a four-star recruit, the No. 243 overall player and a top 20 RB. Michigan is in the mix for Dillon, but Notre Dame might be the front-runner given that Dillon's granfather went to Notre Dame. For more Michigan news, download the Chat Sports Android and iPhone app.
3. Anthony McFarland Jr.
McFarland is the first of three players on this list that are likely long-shots to head to Michigan. He's the No. 53 overall recruit and the top player from Maryland. He visited Michigan unoffically last year, but the Wolverines are not the favorites. He does hold a Michigan offer.
2. D'Andre Swift
Swift is the No. 31 overall recruit in the class of 2017. The four-star prospect is the No. 1 all-purpose back and has speed to spare. While Penn State is considered the favorite at the moment, Michigan has already offered Swift and is working hard to land him. 1. Najee Harris
The five-star recruit isn't just the best RB in the nation, he's the No. 1 player too. While he committed to Alabama, that's considered a soft verbal at best. He's from California and both USC and UCLA are pushing hard for him. The Wolverines are long shot, but Harbaugh did visit Harris last month and Harris has a Michigan offer.
