The Michigan Wolverines won't be playing in the College Football Playoff this season and won't be in a New Year's Six Bowl, but they'll still be in a solid bowl game. There's still a wide variety of options for them, but virtually all will be in the days leading up to New Year's Eve. So, who can they expect to play? Here are the 3 most likely bowl opponents for Michigan this year.
Stanford Cardinal
A number of possible bowl games for the Wolverines - namely the Holiday Bowl - would be against Pac-12 teams, and Stanford would be a logical opponent. The Cardinal are also 8-3 and have one of the best running backs in the country in Bryce Love, which would make for an intriguing matchup against Michigan's defense. There's also the Jim Harbaugh factor, given the fact that he brought Stanford back to national prominence before leaving for the San Francisco 49ers.

Washington Huskies
Another Pac-12 team that began the season with playoff aspirations, Washington has lost two of their last five games, dropping them out of the New Year's Six mix. Seeing their high-powered offense, led by quarterback Jake Browning, go against that vaunted Michigan defense would be a must-watch.

LSU Tigers
Several other games (Citrus Bowl, Outback Bowl, Music City Bowl, Texas Bowl) could pit the Big Ten against the SEC, which is where LSU would likely come into play. They're also 8-3 after winning five of their last six games and play a physical brand of football that would match up well with Michigan. Plus, both schools have massive fan bases that travel well.
