ANN ARBOR -- Zavier Simpson wasn't pleased that he went 0-for-5 from 3-point range in Michigan's last game, but it represented a certain kind of progress.
"The thing I overcame this year is I still shot 'em," he said. "Last year I probably wouldn't have shot 'em."
Simpson met with reporters Friday and was comfortable talking about his shooting performance in Tuesday's win at Northwestern. The Wildcats adjusted their defense in the second half to try and keep Simpson out of the paint and force him to beat them from outside. He couldn't do it, compelling head coach John Beilein to replace his starting point guard with 6:24 left and Michigan down one.
