Minneapolis – Minnesota entered Saturday's game emotional after the sudden retirement this week of their coach, Jerry Kill, for health reasons. Michigan entered the game after a kick-in-the-gut loss two weeks earlier to in-state rival Michigan State.
The 15th-ranked Wolverines said they had moved on from the loss, but they looked flat from the get-go against the Golden Gophers, who played inspired for interim coach Tracy Claeys.
It was another wild finish for the Wolverines, but this time they came out with a victory. Michigan held on to win, 29-26, at TCF Bank Stadium and will return the Little Brown Jug to Ann Arbor.
