Rated as a four-star prospect on Rivals, 247 Sports and ESPN, the 6-3, 290 pound Smith selected the Wolverines over scholarship opportunities at Alabama, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Penn State, Michigan State and many others.
His pledge brings Michigan up to 14 commitments for the 2019 recruiting class. He joins running back Zach Charbonnet and tight end Erick All, who likewise announced their decisions on Sunday.
