The Wolverines moved up in the polls a week earlier, despite a lackluster performance against Cincinnati, but saw the sluggish offensive performance against Air Force catch up to them this time around. Michigan dropped one spot in each of the Associated Press and USA Today/Amway Coaches Polls, coming in at No. 8 in each ranking.
Also in the Big Ten, Penn State moved up one spot, coming in at No. 4 in each poll. Wisconsin hopped ahead to No. 9, moving one spot ahead of Ohio State in the AP, with that ranking reversed in the Coaches Poll.
