Michigan’s bowl announcement Sunday afternoon shouldn’t involve much suspense. The Wolverines are headed to the Citrus Bowl in Orlando at best, the Outback Bowl in Tampa at worst.
With a 9-3 record and an attention magnet at coach in Jim Harbaugh, the Wolverines are as desirable as any non-College Football Playoff team.
If the Rose Bowl or any of the New Year’s Six could justify a three-loss team, U-M would be a natural choice.
But a third loss forced the Wolverines into the Big Ten bowl hierarchy. MSU, Iowa and Ohio State are expected to be in the CFP or New Year’s Six Bowls, leaving the Citrus at the top for U-M.
