Despite a significant edge in yardage and virtually every other statistical category, Michigan held just a 14-0 edge heading into the final minute of the third quarter. That’s when the floodgates finally opened.
Putting together a 13-play, 90-yard drive, the Wolverines scored on a Shea Patterson touchdown pass to Zach Gentry. Two plays later, Michigan players were again dancing in the end zone, following a 62-yard interception return for a touchdown by Brandon Watson.
Then forcing a three-and-out, the Wolverines put together a 53-yard touchdown drive, followed by an interception and another quick score. The 28-point onslaught covered just over eight minutes in game clock time.
