Two of Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh’s most defining traits are insane competitiveness and disinterest in following convention.
So his focus for the 15 practices leading up to the Jan. 1 Citrus Bowl against Florida should surprise no one.
“Coach Harbaugh came out with a different message coming into this: that, a lot of times, the bowl preparations for other teams will be focused on young guys and things like that,” fifth-year senior linebacker Desmond Morgan explained Sunday, when he was honored as the state of Michigan’s Division I scholar-athlete of the year at the National Football Foundation/Detroit Free Press banquet.
