Michigan softball coach Carol Hutchins is closing in on a monumental record, the most wins in college softball history, and as with any individual accolades or achievements, she deflected the attention.
Hutchins has won 1,456 games in 33 seasons and could become the winningest softball coach this weekend when the second-ranked Wolverines (24-3) play at Indiana. She would tie Margie Wright’s record with a victory in Bloomington on Friday and set the new mark on Saturday. Mike Candrea at Arizona currently is third with 1,450 victories.
“I’m not sure how aware of it she is,” said Michigan associate head coach and former Wolverine player Bonnie Tholl.
