Michigan basketball coach John Beilein is having a tough season, tougher still because he had one last season, too.
There are reasons for this, of course. Early defections to the NBA. Injuries. You know, things some folks might consider facts. (Count me in that category.)
But before we get to those, let’s see if we can agree on a couple of things that don’t have anything to do with the Wolverines’ current plight:
Beilein did not forget how to coach.
His system isn’t broken. If anything, his system — spacing, movement, shooting, read-and-react ball screening — was ahead of its time.
