No one's job is safe, Jake Butt told the media Monday afternoon. Apparently, not even his.

Though if the gifted U-M tight end truly believes he's in a real competition for his job, then that is easily Jim Harbaugh's most Jedi-like trick yet.

Butt is as good as any tight end in the galaxy. But that is beside the point. Harbaugh wants his players — no matter how talented — to be in a battle forever.

"We are competing every single day," Butt said. "If it's a meeting, if it's a practice … it's a competition everywhere.
