Michigan's Wilton Speight was handed an ideal quarterback situation last year with three seniors to catch the ball, all on the brink of the NFL.
This year, the roles are reversed as Speight is the fourth-year player and returning starter with a group of unproven receivers, many of them freshmen.
Though elite freshmen Tarik Black and Donovan Peoples-Jones arrived in January and experienced spring practice, now in the off-season workouts without the coaches, Speight is bringing them along.
“It’s going unbelievably well,” Speight said. “They are coming in and seeing the older guys and what it takes to work.
