Michigan quarterback Wilton Speight was quick to praise last year’s receivers when asked about the highly recruited freshmen he’s working with now. That makes sense. A quarterback’s first job is not to alienate teammates.
Even if they are former teammates getting ready to play in the NFL.
While it’s true that Speight threw to a gifted, experienced receiving corps last fall, the young guys bring a different sort of potential for playmaking.
“Freak specimens,” Speight said of freshmen receivers, Tariq Black and Donovan Peoples-Jones. “To be making plays and be as physical as those two are for high school kids … it’s special.
