ANN ARBOR -- There are times when the gap between a "good kid" and a "great player" can stretch the entire width of a stadium.
In football specifics, the "good kid" can be a player teammates adore. Someone who goes about his business the right way, but also keeps things light. He can make plays, but too often those around him wonder if he's just too nice to play this often brutal game.
The "great player" is self explanatory. He changes games on his own. His motor never shuts off. The longer a game goes, the better he gets.
