Why University of Michigan-Dearborn has canceled fall sports this season

For several weeks, University of Michigan-Dearborn athletic director Matt Beaudry went back and forth on the same question everyone is asking: Can we play fall sports amid the coronavirus pandemic?

He spoke with university leaders, state and local governments and health professionals before Domenico Grasso, the school chancellor, announced Monday morning fall sports in the 2020-21 academic year are canceled, along with the suspension of practices for the foreseeable future.
