What's with Michigan baseball's big belt buckles?

OMAHA, Neb. — The Michigan baseball team is not making a fashion statement in Monday's game against Florida State.

They aren’t taking the field in the College World Series with big belt buckles to be noticed. The belt buckles aren’t new. They aren’t even belt buckles.

As with everything in head coach Erik Bakich’s program, there is a purpose to the most obvious uniform trend in Omaha: Many of the Wolverines wear play cards, as part of a play-calling system based on numeric codes.
