The Michigan social media team had an long day Aug. 12.
Beginning at 3:30 a.m. that morning, explicit content and spam-like posts appeared all over the university's football, basketball and athletics Facebook pages. And even after university officials and U-M's social media team worked furiously to resolve the problem, another wave of attacks occurred sometime after the noon hour, including one hacker who gained access to a specific employee's personal account.
U-M's director of social media, Nikki Sunstrum, covered the entire day in detail in a case study on the U-M website.
