The sideline camera was aimed at Ronnie Bell as the injured wide receiver glanced skyward to track a throw sailing toward the end zone. His face was expectant, his eyes were hopeful and then — after an arcing pass was secured by true freshman Darrius Clemons in the end zone — he raced onto the field to join the celebration.
Clemons’ lunging grab resulted in a 35-yard touchdown for the Blue team that gave fans at Michigan Stadium the kind of potential-laden moment spring football is meant to create. Here was a four-star wide receiver, one of the highest-rated players in coach Jim Harbaugh’s 2022 recruiting class, flashing the kind of talent that will get him on the field sooner than later this fall.
