Michigan basketball moved up one spot from No. 25 to No. 24 in this week's AP poll after its season-opening 70-44 win over Northern Michigan last Friday. Michigan's bump occurred because the former No. 17 team, Wisconsin, was upset by Western Illinois at home and dropped from the rankings. Michigan is one of five Big Ten teams in the poll, joining No. 3 Maryland, No. 13 Michigan State, No. 14 Indiana, and No. 21 Purdue.
This week, Michigan will seek to improve its rank when it takes on Elon tonight -- read my preview here -- and Xavier in the inaugural Gavitt Games on Friday.
