ANN ARBOR — Now 69 years old, Tom Goss on Wednesday wore a camel skin blazer, black turtleneck, and hair going from gray to white. The accompanying contentment of an old mentor — sentimental smiles — went well with the look.
Goss was among a crowd of familiar faces inside the Kuenzel Room on the first floor of the Michigan Union. All were on hand to clap and smile for Manuel — then wax lyrical of the former U-M football player and administrator who's landed back at his alma mater as its 12th athletic director.
The collective praise for Manuel was contagious.
