They say the losses are the toughest to forget.
John Wangler, Michigan’s starting quarterback in 1979 and 1980, had no choice — for a full year he heard plenty of chirping about Michigan State’s 24-15 victory in 1978.
“That was the longest summer of my college career, the summer of ‘79, because we lost to them the year before,” said Wangler, who attended Royal Oak Shrine. “It was not pretty. Most of the guys you played with or against in high school, they were at Michigan State.
