Walton, Robinson three pointers lift Michigan past Elon

Derrick Walton Jr. and Duncan Robinson combined for only four points in the Wolverines’ season opener against Northern Michigan on Friday, but just three days later they had huge offensive outpourings, helping to lead the Michigan to an 88-68 victory over Elon.

Walton, who was injured for much of the season last year, went 6-of-7 from three point range, posting a career best 24 points. Putting forward a complete performance, the junior point guard also had seven assists and six rebounds.

“I’ve been shooting the ball pretty well, but I just really, really thank my teammates for giving me the extra pass to get myself set to make the shot,” said Walton.
