UM’s Maurice Ways ‘back on two feet,’ confident

Michigan receiver Maurice Ways worked Friday’s Sound Mind Sound Body Academy in Detroit, of which he is an alum, while wearing a boot on his left leg.

That was just precautionary.

Ways, who suffered an injury to the fifth metatarsal in the foot in a freak incident during spring practice, had surgery in late March. He ran Thursday and has been lifting weights and working with the quarterbacks.

“I’m back on two feet, back in two shoes now,” Ways said, laughing.

Ways had received high marks early in spring practice before the injury.

“Moe caught a touchdown pass and a freak thing happened – fell on his foot,” Harbaugh said in March.
