Michigan guard Spike Albrecht will transfer and spend his fifth year at another school, after receiving his release from the school on Monday, his father Chuck confirmed today.
ESPN.com first reported that the U-M co-captain would use his final year of eligibility to play at another school.
Albrecht played only the first nine games of last season, realizing that the double hip surgery he had last summer was too painful and limiting.
So he made the decision to end his season after the Dec. 8 game at SMU, and spend the year rehabbing his injured hips.
