U-M RB Smith loved Hoke but is learning from Wheatley

For De'Veon Smith, this season has been a revelation.

As the lead running back and the Wolverines' top rusher with 524 yards, he appreciates how much he's grown in his game.

As much as he appreciated the coaching staff that brought him to U-M – "Coach (Brady) Hoke's a great coach, he meant a lot to me," Smith said. "He came over to my house one day and literally just fell asleep on the couch." – this season has pushed his game and his life forward.

Speaking on the "Inside Michigan Football" radio show tonight, he attributed most of it to his connection with new running backs coach Tyrone Wheatley.
