U-M keeps Big Ten hopes alive, downs Penn State 28-16

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Michigan football did everything necessary.

Since losing to Michigan State on Oct. 17, the Wolverines put themselves in position to play for the Big Ten East Division title.

Though they need help later today from Ohio State to have the chance, No. 14 U-M did all it could, winning at Penn State, 28-16.

The win completed U-M’s first perfect Big Ten road season since 1997 at 4-0, and the 9-2 record marks the second-most wins since 2007.

Leading by five with just under eight minutes to play, Michigan got a 55-yard kickoff return from Jourdan Lewis and, five plays later, reached the end zone on a De’Veon Smith dive from the 1-yard line to push the lead to 28-16.
