U-M Holds Off Mercyhurst for Weekend Sweep

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Freshman forward Kyle Connor broke a 2-2 tie in the second period, and the penalty kill unit held off a late third-period Mercyhurst man advantage to help the University of Michigan ice hockey team earn a 3-2 win on Sunday night (Oct. 18) inside Yost Ice Arena.

Junior forwards Alex Kile and Evan Allen scored their first goals of the season, and junior goaltender Zach Nagelvoort stopped 19 of 21 shots to earn his first win of the season in net. Michigan outshot Mercyhurst 45-21 on the night, but couldn't pull away from the Lakers on the scoreboard, as goaltender Brandon Wildung made 42 stops to keep the visiting team in it.
