EAST LANSING – Goals galore. Punches thrown. Goalies changed.
Not exactly the start to the second half of the season that Michigan State’s hockey team wanted. Or needed.
Eighth-ranked Michigan scored five goals over a 5-minute, 40-second stretch of a high-paced first period, demolishing the Spartans, 9-2, tonight at Munn Arena.
Jake Hildebrand, MSU’s first-team All-America goaltender, allowed seven goals in a little more than a period-and-a-half. He was pulled for redshirt freshman Ed Minney, who allowed one goal in the final period. It's the Spartans' fifth straight loss and ninth in their last 10 games.
