Caris LeVert hadn't played in a game that counts since last January. Tonight, the Michigan senior guard finally returned, 10 months after he broke his foot.
He scored 18 points as U-M beat Northern Michigan, 70-44, at Crisler Center in its season opener. He had five assists.
But numbers don't reveal what he means to this year's Wolverines club – how about everything.
At 6-foot-6, LeVert acts as a point forward, assessing the floor the top of the key or the wings and tilting the defense toward him. He can get his own shot when he wants and should contend for conference player of the year if he stays healthy.
