On Tuesday’s Big Ten teleconference call, Michigan Wolverines’ head coach Jim Harbaugh was asked about former walk-on running back Tru Wilson and if he has done enough this preseason to be Michigan’s No. 3 running back.
Turns out, he has.
“(Wilson) has risen to No. 3,” Harbaugh said. “(He has) improved in every area. Pass-blocking, seeing the holes better, frame looks better, moving faster and quicker, stronger.”
Wilson is behind senior Karan Higdon and junior Chris Evans. The 5-foot-10, 202-pound junior from Warren has five games and one rushing yard to his name in his two seasons as a Wolverine, but it appears he will be relied on, in the early going at least, to get some carries when Evans and Higdon need a breather.
