Top 5 shifts but Michigan football, Michigan State stay put in coaches poll

There was movement in the USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll, but not for Michigan State football or Michigan.

The idle Spartans remained ranked No. 7, just behind the No. 6 Wolverines, who beat the Northwestern Wildcats, 33-7, on Saturday. MSU and U-M renew their rivalry at noon Saturday in East Lansing.

Week 8 produced its share of upsets in college football. Though none of the top five teams in the coaches poll actually lost, that didn’t stop the voters from rearranging things a bit.
