ANN ARBOR -- Michigan head softball coach Carol Hutchins has a big fan in East Lansing.
The 34-year head coach received a call on Tuesday afternoon from Michigan State head basketball coach Tom Izzo, who congratulated Hutchins, the winningest coach in NCAA softball history, on reaching the NCAA Tournament for 24th straight season, which is the fourth longest active streak.
Hutchins also said he quipped about her age and gave her a hard time about the Wolverines' 7-0 loss to Michigan State last Friday in a Big Ten quarterfinal.
"He called me to shoot the (crap)," Hutchins said, sitting inside the team's meeting room after Tuesday's practice.
