ANN ARBOR, MI - Three University of Michigan students were recently diagnosed with the mumps, University Health Service confirmed in a message on its website.
A message sent by UHS Executive Director Robert Ernst to students assured them the matter is being addressed across campus.
"I want to assure you that we are coordinating with campus partners, Michigan Medicine, and state and county public health authorities to identify, treat and prevent mumps," Ernst wrote.
According to UHS, mumps generally causes mild symptoms in people who are immunized. Symptoms usually go away on their own, however mumps is fairly easily transmitted and some people experience complications.
