Of the 67 total NCAA tournament games Central Indiana will host as part of this year’s reimagined NCAA tournament, 55 will take place within Indianapolis.
IU and Purdue will each host a pair of First Four games, and then four each at their campus sites, Assembly Hall and Mackey Arena, respectively. Otherwise, every other game in March Madness will take place inside Marion County, as part of a schedule outlined by the NCAA on Tuesday afternoon.
Announcement of that schedule formalizes the structure of the association’s plan to host all of its Division I men’s basketball tournament in one place, a response to the myriad challenges created by the COVID-19 pandemic.
