Theories on Michigan's sluggish start against Maryland

ANN ARBOR -- There is always a chance of a letdown after an important win. When the emotional drain is coupled with a physical one, it only increases the odds. Playing just two days after Saturday's win at Michigan State, Michigan started flat against Maryland.

The Wolverines trailed 30-20 at half, used a 3-point barrage to pull ahead, and needed two free throws with 1.2 seconds left to secure a 68-67 win Monday.

Michigan coach John Beilein wouldn't cite fatigue as an excuse, only saying, "It is difficult, especially when only one team is doing it.
