‘The right thing to do’: Big Ten cancels men’s basketball tournament

Indianapolis – The Big Ten Conference has canceled its men’s basketball tournament, which was scheduled to continue at noon on Thursday, due to coronavirus concerns.

Big Ten commissioner Kevin Warren said the decision was “the right thing to do.”

“Today has been an interesting day, and I would say the last couple months have been very interesting from a health and wellness standpoint,” Warren said. “And as you make these decisions which are not easy, but you have to always ask yourself, what is the right thing to do? And I always feel strongly that the right thing to do for our student-athletes and the media and for our families, our coaches, our administrators was that we cancel the Big Ten men’s basketball tournament.
